High Seas Drama: Vegans vs. Farmers
Ever wonder what happens when a vegan couple meets farmers on a cruise? Spoiler alert: it's not pretty.
Picture this: a serene cruise, the gentle sway of the sea, and a dining room drama that could rival any reality TV show. Last week aboard a Carnival Cruise, tensions flared in the most unexpected of ways.
The scene unfolded in the main dining room where passengers are randomly seated, leading to an unforgettable evening. Two vegan ladies found themselves at a table with an unsuspecting farmer couple. As polite introductions were made, the farmers mentioned their livestock-raising background. Cue the vegan meltdown.
The vegan passengers, upon hearing their tablemates were actual farmers who dared to raise cows and sheep, couldn't keep their horror under wraps. Don't these farmers know that cow farts are ruining the ozone!? Instead of nibbling their tofu in peace, they demanded the farmers be banished from their presence. How dare these farmers soil their dinner conversation with tales of... farming?
John Heald, Carnival's brand ambassador, shared this fiasco on Facebook, recounting his disbelief. Initially, he thought the complaint might be about inappropriate behavior. Turns out, the offense was simply existing as farmers at a table with vegans. Who knew sharing your profession could be so scandalous?
Heald put it perfectly: "We have a brilliant vegan menu on the ships. We (I) respect the vegan lifestyle, of course we do. But how can this lady pour a tsunami of abuse on a chap, in his late sixties who has spent most of his life helping feed people like me and you."
But, apparently, they needed a farmer-free zone, and nothing less would suffice.
In a move that could only be described as poetic justice, the farmers were relocated, not because of the vegan demands, but to ensure a peaceful dining experience for everyone involved. And to top it off, they were treated to a complimentary steakhouse meal. Talk about turning the other cheek!
So, here's a toast to the farmers who keep our plates full, whether it's with fresh produce or a juicy steak. And let's all laugh a little at the absurdity of demanding people be removed from dinner because of their profession. Here’s to a world where we can all sit at the same table—vegans, farmers, and everyone in between—without descending into dining room drama.
